Anxiety
Living with constant anxiety is overwhelming and exhausting.
Everybody experiences anxiety, worry, and fear occasionally. These responses are adaptive in certain situations as they can help guide your decisions. However, these responses may become maladaptive if the sensation of dread and fear is persistent. if you suffer from an anxiety disorder, these sensations of fear may continue even after the threat has passed, disrupting your regular activities. You may find yourself often wondering “what if…?” and picturing the worse case scenarios. These reaction may give you the impression that things are worse than they really are. This may also lead you to avoid situations that exacerbate or triggers your symptoms.
Moreover, anxiety may present itself with both mental and physical symptoms. You may experience:
- Racing thoughts
- Lack of concentration
- Panic
- Feelings of dread and irritability
- Restlessness
- Sleep and eating disturbances
- Dry mouth
- Trembling
- Rapid heartbeat
- Lack of energy
- Dizziness
